¨I have not always known what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew that it had to involve helping others. I first learned about TECHO through a coworker of mine one year ago.

Working with TECHO has given me opportunities to see the world from a perspective that few travelers experience. I have been to communities far off the path an average tourist would take and have seen the land from the vantage point of those living in extreme poverty. I, like many other TECHO volunteers, have helped lay the foundations for concrete change (and concrete foundations) in several communities across Latin America.

It has been an absolutely awesome time working alongside the team at TECHO-U.S. Organizing building trips, volunteers, and fundraising has proved to be a challenging and rewarding experience. I have learned much about the world and about myself in the short time of knowing TECHO and will carry these lessons with me always.¨

Steven Salas, TECHO-N.Y. Volunteer.
