On May 16th TECHO-US and DesignTECHO organized their 5th annual fundraising event in Miami. As tradition, one country was picked to receive the funds and to give the night its cultural taste. This year the tango dancing Argentina gave the pitch and counted on performers such as DJ Virginia da Cunha, DJ Alejandro Cacciola, the rock band Pampa y la Via and the amazing acoustic blues of Gardi Pais. Besides the musical attractions, Rocca Donna brought in beautiful models who paraded the floor with astonishing looks and beautiful jewelry, from the Argentinean Fashion Designers Sofi Caleri & Giselli Miretti. More than 140 of Miami’s Latino and American locals enjoyed tasty food served by the best Argentinian restaurants and delis the city has to offer. In addition, the audience also took part in a silent auction that had yoga classes, dinners in high-end restaurants, spa products, designer purses, beautiful art work, among other products. Adding to the sold tickets the night raised funds for 12 homes, that will be built with Argentinean families living in extreme poverty in the small city of Obera situated in the state of Misiones.
“As Miami is a hub for Latin America, for us at TECHO, Design TECHO’s members and supporters remind us that regardless of our backgrounds we can all take part in creating a poverty- free world.” says Ana Duque, Director of Community Giving of TECHO-US.
